Our Vision
India and China have a trade potential worth over several billion dollars per year. It is acknowledged by governments and business circles in both countries that this is far from being tapped at present. Bilateral trade will not only create unprecedented opportunities but also bring about greater economic and geo-political stability in the region.
India-China bilateral trade has for the first time nearly touched $3 billion in the year 2001. India's exports to China increased by 63.5 per cent in the year 2000, while Chinese exports to India also went up by 35 per cent in the same year. China's accession to the World Trade Organisation (WTO) has further underlined the potential of the chinese market. A new era may emerge where India and China can encourage bilateral trade and investment relations and work jointly to establish common negotiating strategies in the international fora. ICBS seeks to harness and use to mutually beneficial ends the opportunities provided by the evolving scenario in the present and in the future.
